Christians for Biblical Equality

From what I can tell this website is the egalitarian version of the Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. They have books and articles that they recommend which may be helpful for gathering ideas for writing.

Also, Gordon Fee is a well known egalitarian who has a chapter on gender roles in this book.

Council of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood

If you want some ideas for your paper or a source of information, you may want to look at this website. They also have a blog so you may be able to find a current event or conversation related to the topic.

Assignment #1 - Women in Ministry

The first paper that we will all write will be on the topic of women's roles regarding ministry within the Church. The paper should be about 5-7 pages in length. Clearly this is too short for a comprehensive take on the subject so feel free to write on anything related to the topic. Feel free to be as narrow or as broad as you would like.

Some preliminary ideas include:
- An overview of your position on the topic
- Is this a Local Church issue only, or should it extend to other areas (parachurch, workplace)
- Women as missionaries.
- A book review or chapter review of a book related to the topic
- An explanation of a passage related to the topic
- A look at a historical case related to the topic

If you would like to participate, leave a comment to this post, possibly including your basic premise. If everyone could have their paper written by August first, we could submit them to one or two other participants for review. After getting some feedback, a second draft can be submitted within 2 weeks to the entire group. Following the second draft, the papers will be posted on the blog.

I am hoping that we could get together and go over our second drafts as a group, perhaps with some food and drinks. It could be a fun little get together. I do want to emphasize that the goal of this is not necessarily to reach a consensus, but to sharpen all of our thinking on the issue and to sharpen our writing skills. Peer review should ideally include feedback relating to grammatical, structural, and content issues.
